Ten routes and four curated packages

Expedition Routes

Ten expedition routes across Tanzania, from the Serengeti and Ngorongoro to Kilimanjaro, the southern parks and Zanzibar, plus four curated packages built on them. Every price is shown up front.

Routes made to be changed

Deliberate itineraries, not rushed tours

An expedition route is a complete journey: where you go, how long you stay in each place, where you sleep and how you travel between them. Ours favour fewer places and longer stays, because time in one place is when you start to notice things.

The ten routes cover the northern safari circuit, Kilimanjaro, the wild southern parks, the chimpanzees of Gombe and the beaches of Zanzibar. The four curated packages take a route and shape it for a particular kind of traveller. Treat every one as a starting point: we adjust dates, camps and pace to fit your group.

Prices are guide figures per person based on two people sharing. Your written quotation is the price that applies.

How we rate difficulty

Gentle
Mostly vehicle-based, short walks, comfortable pace. Suits most ages and fitness levels.
Moderate
Longer days, some walking or early starts. A reasonable level of general fitness helps.
Demanding
Sustained walking at altitude or over several days. Good fitness and preparation needed.
Expedition Grade
The longest, hardest routes, such as a full Kilimanjaro climb. Training and medical advice are essential.

What the pace labels mean

Slow and Immersive
Several nights in each place, long game drives and time to sit with the wildlife.
Balanced
A steady mix of travel days and rest days across several parks.
Active Foot and Trail
Walking is the main way you move: mountain trails, forest treks or walking safaris.

For the climbing routes in depth, see the Kilimanjaro guide. To choose a month, see the safari planning guide.

How we plan

What Every Expedition Has in Common

Planning principles

Pace before mileage

We plan fewer places and longer stays, so you spend your time in the wildlife and not in the vehicle.

Small groups

Smaller parties are quieter in the bush and flexible enough to stay when something special turns up.

Honest pricing

Every route shows a "from" price per person, and your written quotation sets the exact figure.

Built around you

Every route is a starting point. Dates, camps, pace and extras can be changed to suit your group.

From idea to departure

How Booking an Expedition Works

Four steps, with a written plan and a clear price before you commit.

  2. Receive a written proposal

We reply with a day-by-day plan, the camps and a clear price for your dates.

  3. Confirm with a 30% deposit

The deposit secures camps, vehicles, flights and permits. The 70% balance is due at least 45 days before arrival.

  4. Prepare and travel

We send your documents and a checklist, arrange transfers and stay in touch until you are home.

Visas, flights, transfers, health and payments are explained in our Travel Essentials handbook, and the full terms are in our Booking Terms.
