Website Terms of Service

The conditions that apply when you use this website.

Last updated November 2, 2026

The short version

  • This website is for information and trip planning. Nothing on it is a binding offer until we confirm a booking in writing after you have accepted a proposal and paid the deposit.
  • Prices shown are indicative "from" prices in US dollars, and your written quotation is the price that applies.
  • Our writing and design belong to us. Some photographs are credited to their photographers under Creative Commons licences.
  • Travel articles are general information, not medical, legal or financial advice, and wildlife and weather cannot be guaranteed.
  • Please use the site fairly and lawfully. Tanzanian law applies, and the courts in Arusha have jurisdiction.

This summary is for convenience only. The full text below is what applies.

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Website Terms of Service (the terms) set out the conditions on which you may use the website of The Expedition Tours. By opening, browsing or submitting a form on the website, you confirm that you have read these terms and agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, please stop using the website.

These terms apply to the website only. They do not replace our Booking Terms and Conditions, which govern any booking once it has been confirmed, or our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, which explain how we handle personal information and cookies.

2. Who may use the website

The website is intended for adults aged 18 or over. If you are under 18, you may use it only with the knowledge and permission of a parent or guardian, who is responsible for your use of it and for any enquiry made on your behalf.

If you use the website on behalf of a family, a group, a company or another organisation, you confirm that you have authority to do so and that these terms bind that group or organisation as well as you.

3. Who operates the website

The website is operated by The Expedition Tours, a business name registered with BRELA (the Business Registrations and Licensing Agency of Tanzania) under Business Name No. 717897.

  • Postal address: P.O. Box 7037, Arusha, Tanzania.
  • Email: info@theexpeditiontourstz.com.
  • WhatsApp: +255 682 044 971.

4. What the website is for

The website provides information about our safaris, Kilimanjaro climbs, Zanzibar stays and related experiences, and helps you to plan a trip and get in touch with us. It has an enquiry form, a five-step trip planner, a call request form and a newsletter sign-up.

The website has no user accounts, and it does not take payments. Nothing you do on the website, including completing the trip planner, creates a booking or a contract for travel services.

Our team will read what you send and reply personally, usually with a tailored proposal, and you are under no obligation to proceed. Using the trip planner is a convenient way to tell us what you have in mind, and the answers you give are used only to help us respond.

5. No binding bookings through the website

Everything on the website, including itineraries, prices, descriptions and suggestions produced through the trip planner, is provided for information and planning. None of it is a binding offer.

A booking exists only when we have confirmed it to you in writing, after you have accepted our proposal and paid the deposit. From that point, the separate Booking Terms and Conditions govern the booking. If anything on the website conflicts with your written quotation or confirmed itinerary, the quotation or confirmed itinerary applies.

6. Accuracy and updates

We take reasonable care to keep the website accurate and up to date, but travel is a field in which things change often. Routes, park rules, lodge and camp arrangements, schedules and opening times can change at short notice, sometimes for reasons outside our control.

Photographs, maps and descriptions are illustrative. We may correct errors, update content or remove pages at any time without notice. If you spot a mistake, please tell us at info@theexpeditiontourstz.com and we will look into it.

Because content is updated from time to time, a page you saved or printed earlier may be out of date. Before you rely on any detail that matters to your decision, such as a date, a fee or a requirement, please confirm it with us in writing.

7. Prices and availability

Prices on the website are indicative "from" prices in US dollars. They show roughly what a trip may cost, usually for a typical group size and season, and they are not a quotation.

The price that applies to you is the one in your written quotation, which takes account of your dates, group size, accommodation, transport and chosen extras. Park fees, exchange rates, taxes and supplier rates may change between a website price and a quotation. Availability shown or implied on the website is not a reservation, and we cannot hold space for you until a booking is confirmed in writing.

8. Travel, health and safety information

Articles, guides and tips on the website are general information written to help you prepare. They are not medical, legal or financial advice, and they do not take account of your personal circumstances.

Safaris, mountain climbs and travel to remote places carry real risks. Altitude, exertion, heat, insects, road conditions and wildlife all call for sensible preparation. Please talk to a doctor or a travel clinic before your trip, particularly about vaccinations, malaria prevention, altitude and any existing condition, and take advice on insurance, visas and your own legal obligations. Responsibility for deciding whether a trip is suitable for you remains with you.

9. Wildlife, weather and conditions

Wildlife is wild. We describe what you may see and when, but we cannot guarantee any sighting, migration movement, birth season or behaviour. Weather, seasons, river levels, road and trail conditions and summit success on a mountain can all differ from what is described, and rain or cold can occur in any month.

Any description of an animal, event or experience on the website is a general expectation, not a promise.

10. Third-party information

Some information on the website depends on organisations that we do not control. This includes park and conservation fees, visa and entry requirements, airline and flight schedules, health regulations, border rules and government travel advice.

We try to describe these fairly, but the official source always prevails. Please check requirements with the relevant authority, airline or embassy before you travel. We are not responsible for changes made by third parties or for decisions you make based on a summary on our website.

12. Using our forms

When you use the enquiry form, the trip planner, the call request form or the newsletter sign-up, you agree to give information that is true, accurate and complete, and that belongs to you or that you are entitled to share. This matters because we use it to prepare a proposal and to reach you.

You agree that we may contact you using the details you provide in order to respond to your request. If you give us details about other travellers, you confirm that you have told them and that they are content for you to do so.

Please do not use the forms to send sensitive personal information that we have not asked for. We may decline to act on a submission that appears to be false, automated or abusive, and we may keep a record of it for security purposes.

13. Acceptable use

Please use the website lawfully and considerately. You agree not to:

  • submit false, misleading, offensive or abusive information through our forms;
  • impersonate any person or organisation, or misrepresent your connection with us;
  • use the website to send spam, advertising or any unsolicited message;
  • upload or transmit anything that is unlawful, defamatory, infringing or harmful;
  • use the website in any way that breaks a law or the rights of another person; or
  • encourage or help anyone else to do any of these things.

14. Security and unauthorised access

You must not attempt to interfere with the website or its security, or to gain unauthorised access to it, to our systems or to anyone else's information. This includes introducing viruses or malicious code, probing for weaknesses, overloading the website, or bypassing any protection we use.

If you discover a security problem, please tell us promptly at info@theexpeditiontourstz.com. We may report unlawful activity to the authorities.

15. Automated tools, scraping and linking to us

You may not use robots, scrapers, crawlers or other automated tools to copy, harvest or systematically download content, prices or contact details from the website, except for the ordinary indexing carried out by public search engines.

You are welcome to link to our pages, provided the link is fair, accurate and legal and does not suggest that we endorse or are connected with you. Please do not frame our pages inside another website or present our content as your own. We may ask you to remove a link at any time.

16. Intellectual property

The text, design, layout, itineraries, maps, articles and logo on the website belong to The Expedition Tours unless the website states otherwise, and they are protected by copyright and other laws. The Expedition Tours name and logo are ours, and you must not use them without our written permission.

You may view the website and print pages for your own personal, non-commercial use, for example to plan a trip or to share with the people you travel with. Any other use needs our written permission. The table below summarises this.

If you would like to quote a short extract from the website, for example in a review or a news article, a brief quotation with a clear credit and a link to the page is normally welcome. For anything longer, or for any commercial use, please ask first.

17. Photographs and Creative Commons credits

Some photographs on the website were taken by us. Others are shared by independent photographers under Creative Commons licences, and each is credited on our Photo credits page. Our ownership of the website does not override those licences.

The licence terms attached to each credited photograph continue to apply to it. If you wish to reuse one, please read the licence for that photograph and follow its conditions, including giving credit to the photographer. If you believe a photograph has been credited wrongly or used in a way you did not intend, please write to us and we will review it promptly.

18. What you send us

When you send us an enquiry, planner answers or a message, you give us permission to use that information to read it, reply to you, prepare proposals and keep a sensible record of our conversation. We handle personal information as explained in our Privacy Policy.

We will not publish your name, your words, your photographs or your review as a testimonial on the website or elsewhere without asking for your permission first. If you give us feedback or suggestions about the website or our services, you agree that we may act on them without owing you anything for doing so.

19. Newsletters and electronic communications

If you sign up to our newsletter, we will send you occasional emails about trips, seasons and travel ideas. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by writing to us, and we will stop sending newsletters.

If you make an enquiry or ask for a call, we will use email, WhatsApp or telephone to reply to you. Messages sent by email or WhatsApp are not always encrypted from end to end, so please do not send sensitive information such as full payment card numbers or passwords.

20. Privacy and cookies

Our Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through the website, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what rights you have. Our Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies the website uses. Both form part of the way you use the website, and you should read them together with these terms.

21. Availability of the website

We aim to keep the website running, but we do not promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted, timely or free of errors. We may suspend, change or withdraw all or part of it, for example for maintenance, upgrades, security reasons or because of problems with our hosting, internet or power providers. We are not liable if the website is unavailable for any period.

22. Disclaimers

The website and everything on it is provided "as it is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we do not give any warranty or promise, express or implied, about the accuracy, completeness, reliability or suitability of the website or its content for your purposes.

Nothing on the website is a guarantee of a particular price, date, wildlife sighting, weather, level of comfort or outcome. You use the website and rely on its content at your own judgement.

23. Limits of our liability

To the extent the law allows, The Expedition Tours is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the website, or from relying on information on it. This includes indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of opportunity and loss caused by a virus or other harmful material.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Liability for travel services that we provide under a confirmed booking is dealt with in the Booking Terms and Conditions and not here.

You remain responsible for your own travel decisions, for choosing suitable insurance and for following the laws and the advice of the authorities in the places you visit.

24. Your responsibility for misuse

If you break these terms, for example by misusing the website or by submitting information you had no right to share, and that causes us loss, claims or reasonable costs, you agree to compensate us for that loss to the extent it arises from your breach. This does not apply where the loss was caused by our own fault.

25. Suspension and blocking

If we reasonably believe that you have broken these terms or misused the website, we may, without notice, block your access, remove or ignore your submissions, decline to respond to your messages and take any other step that the law allows. We will act proportionately and will not take such steps lightly.

26. Questions and complaints

If you have a question or a concern about the website or about these terms, please write to info@theexpeditiontourstz.com or message us on WhatsApp at +255 682 044 971. Tell us what happened and what you would like us to do. We will read it carefully, reply as soon as we reasonably can and try to put things right.

If we cannot resolve the matter between us, section 30 explains where a dispute may be taken.

27. If part of these terms cannot be enforced

If a court or authority decides that any part of these terms is invalid or cannot be enforced, that part will be treated as removed or limited to the smallest extent necessary, and the rest of the terms will continue to apply in full.

28. Entire agreement

These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, the Cookie Policy and, once you have a confirmed booking, the Booking Terms and Conditions, are the whole agreement between you and The Expedition Tours about your use of the website. They replace any earlier understanding on the same subject.

29. No waiver and assignment

If we do not enforce a right under these terms straight away, that does not mean we have given it up. A waiver is effective only if we give it in writing.

You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these terms to anyone else. We may transfer ours to a successor of our business, provided your rights under these terms are not reduced.

30. Governing law and disputes

These terms, and any dispute or claim arising from them or from your use of the website, are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. The courts of Tanzania, sitting in Arusha, have jurisdiction over any such dispute. We encourage you to contact us first, because most concerns can be settled through a simple conversation.

31. Changes to the website and to these terms

We may change the website at any time, and we may update these terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the law or in how we work. The date shown at the top of this page tells you when they last changed. Changes apply from the date they are published, and by continuing to use the website after that date you accept the updated terms. Please check this page now and then.

If we make a significant change, we will try to make it easy to notice. If you disagree with a change, your remedy is to stop using the website, and this will not affect any booking that has already been confirmed in writing.

32. Contact us

We would be glad to hear from you if you have any question about these terms or the website.
